Project Relentless

Project Relentless was an idea born from CAFA President Andrew “Drewbie” Ehlers and brought to life with the help of Craig “Funky” Miller.  This vision was fueled by passion after the loss of fellow club/team member “Big” Rich Noty.  Rich lost his battle with lymphoma February 22nd, 2007.  In his last hours, Rich was able to give two lasting sentiments to his teammates and brothers:  Gordo, Betty, Big Al and Drewbie;

1. “Keep the Club Alive, Strong and Growing”
2. “Don’t Forget Me”

Anyone who was lucky enough to know Big Rich knows that his heart is bigger than the state of Texas and forgetting him would be a feat that no human could accomplish.  The only thing bigger than Big Rich’s heart was his unwavering love for the club and footy.

The second event that spurred the vision of Project Relentless was the day that even put Big Al McGlashan into a glossed eye stare that was the moment CAFA Alumnus Carl Brazendale gave us the news that his Daughter Hannah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) on September 10th, 2007. The reality is that although advances in medical treatment have come a long way, Leukemia is still the number one killing disease of children between 1 -14. These kids, including Hannah, currently have no choice but to endure years of necessary but painful chemotherapy treatments. Carl has spent years with our beloved club wearing many hats: player, coach, fan, umpire, Alumnus and most importantly our brother.

Big Rich and Hannah are the foundation of the Passion behind Project Relentless. The only ones that can make Big Rich proud and support Hannah in her fight are our team members, club members, fans, families and community. In doing so we have officially launched Project Relentless.

Here is the makeup:

    The goals of this effort are three fold:
  1. 1. Raise money for Hannah Brazendale to support her and the Brazendale Family during her fight.
  2. 2. Raise money for the club to keep Big Rich’s wishes strong and true to “Keep the Club Alive, Strong and Growing”.
  3. 3. Raise awareness of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Anyone who can Raise $300 will become a noted fundraiser for Project Relentless.

    The benefits of reaching the minimum fundraising amount of $300:
  • We will donate to the Brazendale Family $100
  • The fundraiser will get a team jacket shown below with the option to have their name and/or number on the jacket (For non-players they can choose to have their favorite/spouses number on the jacket if they choose)
  • Raised awareness of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
