We welcome anyone to come down and have a run and a kick with us, to watch the games and to get involved in our social activities. So whatever your fitness level, age sex, nationality... come down to the games and social events and get involved.

Players

People interested in playing Aussie Rules football should just turn up at the Waveland fields on a Tuesday night (check the website to verify training is on that night). Introduce yourself to someone who looks like they know what they are doing (although that may be difficult) and we will help you along with your Australian Rules football development!

Trainings usually last 1.5 to 2 hours so bring some water, good running shoes or football cleats (no metal studs) and a mouthguard and you are all set.

Footy Fans

If you are just interested in watching the games and learning about the game, we play Metro footy on Friday nights down at Waveland oval. These games start at 6pm and consist of 4, 20 minute quarters (or thereabouts).  Grab a picnic rug and head down to the field to watch the action unfold.

MAAFL games are held according to the MAAFL fixtures and are usually played on a Saturday.  Games are either played at Waveland or Rogers Park.  Check the website for details of these inter-city clashes.

We are also very grateful for any help in umpiring, goal and boundary umpiring, scoring, keeping time and making sure Wrigleyville aren't cheating.  No experience necesary so if you are down watching, come learn the skills of Aussie Rules football scoring (a scratch mark in one column means goal and in another means point... easy!)

Social

If you just want to get involved in our social activities, check the website for upcoming events. Subscribe to our newsletters and come along to our functions.  The CAFA runs several official large functions each year (AFL Grand Final, Australia Day, ANZAC Day) and we have a number of smaller outings each year. Also, after every Metro and home MAAFL game, presentations are held at our sponsor bar (Brownstone tavern). Come along these nights and listen to the stories!
