From the desk of the President.... Brownstone Tavern(3937 N Lincoln Ave.), a bock south of irving Park on Lincoln Avenue. Just around the corner from The Globe. It is part of the Four Corners Tavern Group(Schoolyard, Kirkwoods, Gaslight,....). We don't have official confirmation of a sponsor deal yet but we will have all the info and terms of our sponsorship by the AGM on Saturday. It will start at 3 and we are trying to make it less of a clucterf**k and only have nominations taken over email this year(email me directly,... This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). We hope many club-members will raise their hands and be willing to do their part to make this club successful. Tenure has no bearing on what position you want to hold within the club. You can even be bad at footy and still hold a position, hell, I'm President. I would rather you nominate yourself, not have someone else nominate you and you not know it(as would happen at previous AGM's). If you are not able to be present at the AGM, this allows you to still hold a position within the club, absent for one day should not deter someone from assisting the club all year long.
Positions:
President Vice President Secretary Treasurer
Coach Training/Assistant Coach(s) Operations Manager Events/Social Committee------2-4 people Recruitment-------2-4 ppl Merchandising Webmaster Alumni Relations
Metro League Co-ordinator Coaches for Metro Teams Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, and the Premiers-Lincoln Square.
A structured discussion will follow elections and we will discuss schedule, possible destinations for a game outside MAAFL, Social events, an outline of pre-season practice schedule,.....
Last year was a great year for Chicago United, a tremendous year for recruiting and results wise on the field. This AGM will bring last year to a close and turn the focus toward an even more successful year on and off the field in 2010. There will plenty of opportunities to speak your mind at the AGM so bring some fresh ideas and be a willing participant. I can't stress that enough, think of ways the club can be better be it socially, organizational, practice-wise,...... If the sponsorship takes off, we should have a great recruiting/social base and that can only help the club if we take advantage of it.
Hope to see many of you on Saturday at Brownstone, if you have been doing your job this offseason, bring the new recruits to the meeting. If they can't make it at 3, get them out later in the evening for some beers. We were a decent Div 2 team last year, we need to have a larger pool and more competition for spots on our MAAFL team, we need more players.
Brownstone Saturday deal: $15 Miller Buckets / $15 Pitchers of Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold / $6 BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich & Fries
