MAAFL 2011 – Nashville at Chicago

Posted in United on September 21st, 2011 by Oscar – Be the first to comment

Nashville were only able to muster up 7 players to make the trip up to Chicago. This resulted in a forfeit and the crowning of Chicago United as MAAFL premiers.

The travellers and Chicago put together two teams and played a heated match to get a good run in leading up to Nationals. The United jerseys won on the day and sent Drakey off to retirement with a win (with only his beloved Wrigleyville missing out on a Metro premiership the only blemish in his career).

Final Score:

Q1 Q2 Q3 Final
UNITED/Nashville 4.3.27 5.5.35 9.7.61 11.10.76
NASHVILLE/United 1.0.6 3.3.21 4.4.28 5.10.40

Goals:
UNITED/Nashville: Oscar, Drakey, Pedro, Kasby, Paul, Steve .. maybe a few others
NASHVILLE/United:

Best:
UNITED/Nashville: Pete Kasby, Joe Serupski, Pedro, Jason Wilhelm
NASHVILLE/United: Crackers, Drew Wolfe

Chicago vs Milwaukee

Posted in United on July 30th, 2011 by Oscar – Be the first to comment

Milwaukee and Chicago had a strong hit-out in what hopefully will be the warmest weekend of the season. Milwaukee made the drive with only 10 players, Chicago grateful that no-one had to come through O’Hare had a full squad to select from. The result was two strong teams were selected and a competitive game of 18s was on the cards.

Right from the get-go there was no thoughts of Chicago vs Chicago or Milwaukee vs Milwaukee with both sides going in hard regardless of who their opponent was. Good, hard, MAAFL footy played at its warmest.

The combined side wearing the United jumpers outlasted the guys wearing the Bombers jerseys with the only loser of the day being whoever gets to wash the jumpers.

Score:

Q1 Q2 Q3 Final
UNITED/Bombers 5.1.31 9.2.56 13.7.85 14.12.96
BOMBERS/United 1.2.8 5.4.34 6.6.36 7.9.51

Goals:
UNITED/Bombers: Bradley, MacGlashan, Meyer 3, Deutz 2, Crackers, LJ 1
BOMBERS/United: Nolan 3, Paul 1

Best:
UNITED/Bombers: Leibowitz, Crackers, Deutz, McGlashan, Bradley
BOMBERS/United: Hoyt, Pete, Rocky, Nolan, Disco, Wolfe
